ViQi’s AVIA™ platform, initially developed as a viral infectivity assay, uses AI-based image analysis to automate the creation of quantitative cell-based assays. This technology enables rapid assay development for any cellular phenotype, even in live, unstained cells imaged via brightfield microscopy. Read more.

DOE SBIR Phase IIB: Interactive Visualization of Multi-Terabyte Datasets on Commodity Hardware. 2022.

Cultured cells have long been used to study cellular response to drug treatments as surrogates to how cells would respond in living organisms. Traditionally, 2D cell cultures have been used for these assays, but 3D cultures (e.g., organoids) are rapidly growing as a better analog to the cellular environment in our own bodies. Read more.

NSF SBIR Phase II: Machine Learning for Rapid Automated Viral Infectivity Assays. 2022.

After successfully proving that AI can work on Plaque Assays as part of the initial special Covid-19 grant, phase I.  ViQi now received the Phase II grant for 1 million dollars. Development of viral vaccines and antiviral drugs requires viral infectivity assays, however, the incubation periods of plaque and TCID50 assays can be as long as 14 days…. Read More.

NSF SBIR Phase I: Machine Learning for Early Detection of COVID-19 Plaques in Cells. 2020.

The broader impact/commercial potential of this Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I project is to accelerate the development of vaccines and anti-virals with artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. This project will develop technology to detect changes in virus-infected cells days or weeks before they can be detected manually. Read more.

In Phase I of the project, a scalable, web-based viewer and query system for large scientific images and tabular data was developed. In Phase II, novel query and analysis mechanisms are added to extract insights from large, diverse collections of scientific datasets. Read more.
